Welcome

We are Ronak Baja - Edinburgh's Indian street band. Our music is a fusion of traditional Scottish with contemporary Bollywood, Bhangra and Jazz styles. Using a mix of bagpipes, snare, trumpet, saxophone, trombone and Indian dhol we create a unique sound and atmosphere. As well as playing many Melas and large-scale outdoor gigs we also perform at indoor and community events.

Having formed in association with the Edinburgh Mela in 2003 we have gone on to perform throughout the UK. Some highlights for the band include playing at London, Belfast, and Bradford melas, Glasgow Dussehra and Edinburgh Castle. In January ‘08 Ronak Baja played their most prestigious engagement to date, performing at the Mumbai International Festival, India.

In the past three years we’ve been presented with a wealth of interesting and diverse music-making opportunities. Over a period of six weeks in 2004 we conducted a series of music workshops in Glasgow primary schools, while in 2005 we played as the 'summer court' musicians in Edinburgh's Samhuinn festival.
